What is a window film? Installation Available 7 mil-21 mil Thickness
A window film is basically a self-adhesive polyester film that is applied to the interior surface of glass. It’s used as a “retrofit” for existing glass on homes and commercial buildings in order to upgrade safety.
While windows provide a functional benefit by opening up the outside world, they are also susceptible to various types of damage and breakage – whether by accident, natural hazard or criminal acts. Security films offer added protection by holding glass together when facing a variety of hazardous situations. These include:
Accidental Damage Protection- Many glass window accidents occur in homes every year; a stray baseball hits an unintended target, a lawnmower propels a rock onto the window, and so on. The installation of a proper safety film can keep these minor accidents from becoming a medical emergency.
Protection Against Vandalism and Burglaries- Besides the door, the window is another entry point for burglars and delinquents out to steal your possessions or vandalize your home. Security films provide a much-needed deterrent to vandals and thieves by holding glass panes in place and preventing easy entry.
You can rely on us for window film installations, and make your home a safer zone.

8 mil Thick Window Film Evaluations According to the Following Test Methods/Standards:
Eight mil thick window film offers safety against forceful entry whilst also keeping the harsh sun rays out. It undergoes an open area bomb testing to confirm its capability to provide the expected levels of safety. Open arena bomb blast testing is commonly carried out in accordance with one of 2 accepted standards, ISO 16933 and ASTM F 1642 (GSA Blast Standard). Both standards involve a live explosion against a series of windows mounted within test cubicles. The cubicles are arranged around the explosive at measured distances which will give the test windows sufficient blast pressure to meet test standards. Pressure gauges are mounted on the test cubicles as well as an independent structure to confirm pressures during the test.
- Small Missile Impact Test – ANSI Z-97.1 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201
- Large Missile Impact Test & Cyclic Window Pressure Tests – ASTM E 1886-02/ASTM E 1996-03, Level C, 4.5lb 2″ x 4″
- GSA Explosive Test – GSA-TS01-2003

What Window Film Installation Involves
State of Urgency has the expertise and experience to install window films in a precise and safe manner. The steps involved to measure the glass are given below:
- Multiply the width by the length
- Multiply that by the number of windows
- Divide that number by 144
- Multiply that number by $15 for 11 mil $10 for 8 mil
After much research, we discovered that even after having security film installed, there is a greater possibility of the glass separating from the frame in the event of impact. Detachment is less likely to occur when the security film is anchored with the attachment tape. The attachment tape is installed two weeks after installation to allow the window film to start the curing process
- Attachment tape will not peel, crack, yellow, or fade in years to come
- It has excellent elongation and tear resistant properties.
- This specially designed adhesive has superior ultraviolet absorbing properties for longevity.
- Attachment tape comes with a 10 year Manufacturer Warranty
The curing process: Once window film has been installed, it’s very common to see a slight haziness and/or small water pockets. This is a normal part of the adhesive bonding process called “curing”. Depending on the film type and weather conditions, it may take up to 60 days for the film to be fully cured. The curing process is slow because the remaining water used in installation must evaporate through the film. Sputtered and heavy security films take the longest to dry and will take longer for any hazy appearance to disappear.
Tips on window film care and maintenance
Once the film is dry and cured, it’s then safe for the film to be cleaned. The best cleaner is a simple solution of water and a small amount of soap. Clean the window and then squeegee dry with overlapping strokes in the same way you would clean the outside of your car windows. You may also clean the film surface with any normal strength glass cleaner.
Products with ammonia will not damage the film if used in reasonable quantities and if the film is not left to soak in it. Do not use any abrasive cleaners, industrial strength glass cleaners and/or any other window cleaning tools that may scratch the window film. Remember, the surface of the film is coated with a scratch resistant not scratch proof coating.
